CAN we congratulate Christine Mark and her team of loyal workers and Scarborough Council gardeners for their sterling work in restoring the Peasholm Park lily pond and the areas around it, which thrilled my husband and I when we were out walking recently.
It was superb to see the statue of Hermes back once more, and such a nice surprise to see what was a neglected and vandalised area looking so very good.

We took some pictures of the statue and headed down under the Northstead bridge, which has grafitti daubed on it. Then, looking up, there was the remains of a box of lager and all the cans strewn about, under the bridge. It was a right eyesore, after what we had just seen at the pond.

It just made me feel so angry that one set of people are doing such hard work and another lot are trashing the area.

I do think the good people will win in the end and we thank them all for their hard work.
