Re entertainment for the over 50s (Your Views, July 12.
What a brilliant idea of Elizabeth Hudson for a central information point so that the public can check details of all leisure activities in Scarborough, regardless of age.

It may interest readers to know that South Cliff Methodist Church recently launched a Thursday Friends social group open to anyone – churchgoers and non-members alike. Everyone is very welcome!

The weekly event takes place between 2pm and 4pm on Thursdays in the Church Hall (adjacent to church) and people do what they wish ... chat, play games such as Scrabble, chess, cards and puzzles, bring along their craftwork or hobbies. We also enjoy occasional outings.

Or for something more energetic, how about a game of table tennis?

Many people live on their own and this is an ideal opportunity to try something different and make new friends over a cuppa and biscuits. Admission is 50p which includes refreshments.

So why not pop along to give it a go and hopefully put a smile on your face!
