I WAS saddened by the report in the Evening News that some residents were unhappy at the noise created by Filey Infant School children playing on the other side of their garden fence. Have we really reached such a low in our society where members of the community can't tolerate, for what must be short periods in the course of the day, the sound of children enjoying themselves?
Let’s put this in perspective. The problem isn’t kids hanging around on street corners or vandalising front gardens, just primary school pupils letting off steam and having fun.

Mr Gilhooly and others should take note and realise that if you want to alienate a whole new generation before they reach their teens then carry on, but don’t complain in a few years’ time about the lack of community spirit and disrespect that you receive in return.
