IT IS unfortunate that a region like Scarborough, projecting itself as a family friendly place for holidays, should harbour 113 registered sex offenders.
There should be a register available to the public to know who these people are.
Do councils and their members have no say in all this? I thought that’s what they were meant to do, protect the people of Scarborough, not the paedophiles.
It’s no
t just a mother’s plea but a child’s cry for help.
Does anybody think about the children in all this?
Unfortunately the victim cannot move on in life as these child-ren are scarred for life. The child has lost confidence, self-worth, trust, friends, all this leaving the child isolated lonely and insecure. The loss of self-worth leads to drugs, drink, a life of crime, prostitution and ending in an abusive violent relationship themselves.
The law seems to turn a blind eye to all this. Is it so difficult for the justice system to stand up and have a say for the protection of these children. There are medical treatments for these paedophiles but unfortunately the law does not have the right to give it to the paedophiles. It seemingly has a re-offending rate once given to less than 10%-20%. For God’s sake let’s protect our children.
I have been a mother of two girls abused for years by a friend who was on a register following a sentence.
But this never stopped him from abusing my kids. I was never warned of this.
Does the justice system not look into paedophiles in the community offending again?
Unfortunately the social services are a let-down as well.
After the torment of going through the justice system the children suffer again by the leniency shown to the paedophiles by the so-called courts of law. Following this the children are given no help either in the form of counselling or any help in being a part of society. There has been no follow-up by social services to see how these children have settled down in the community. To me it has been a shameful part of my life. It affected my other kids too.
I have spent a lot of resources and energy to help my children combat this period of unrest in their lives.
It has taken them down through a rough patch, having spent time for drugs, violence and abuse at Her Majesty’s pleasure. The person who did this to my children got three years but he was paroled before a year, my kids got a life sentence.
I am marvelled at society’s loss of humane nature to all this. How can such a man have human rights?
