i am so pleased, as an ex-soldier, to see the response to the Heroes Welcome campaign (Evening News, May 7).
I was for the past six years the manager of the award- winning Scarborough Travel and Holiday Lodge in valley road.

Approximately four years ago we identified the need for discounted hotel accommodation for forces and ex-forces in scarborough so we offered via the web-site and the forces discount magazine a 'pay for one night and get the second night free' deal.

I am extremely proud that we can say we led the way a little ahead of the rest.

Although i am no longer the manager it remains a source of great pride that we gave our troops a great welcome and a fantastic rate.
