REGARDING the proposed car parking increases for the Scar-borough area.
I find it incredible that local residents and visitors to Scarborough alike have to suffer the council's parking system let alone a proposed increase in charges.

You pay the annual parking permit fee only to find that half the time you can't find a parking spot in your designated area.

And if you park in a disc zone you only have a certain amount of time before you have to move it. This not only causes much irritation but also adds to the pollution in the town.

Also if you use the parking meters they do not give any change.

There have been many times when I have gone into town to park but found when I arrived that I have had to pay £1 for a 10 minute park so the council has made 80 pence on top of the minimum parking fee.

The local parking scheme is just an extra car tax on residents and holidaymakers.

It infuriates me that the council should impose further costs on people who are already paying through the nose for this hare-brained scheme.
