I write in response to your Editorial Comment (July 29) referencing anti-social behaviour with activities around the Aberdeen Walk Jobcentre Plus office.
We were aware of the issues you raised and have already taken a number of steps, including wo
rking with local police and other organisations, to discourage and prevent inappropriate behaviour by a small minority of individuals.
It is important to stress that we want Jobcentre Plus to be a place where all our visitors experience comfort and safety whilst seeking advice or enquiring about the job vacancies on offer.
Maintaining the safety of all our customers and all our staff remains a key priority: customer care officers (not “doormen”) are on hand to manage the safety and security of the public area, as well as offering initial support by guiding visitors to the customer service manager so their needs can be quickly established.
I would like to reassure customers who visit the Aberdeen Walk Jobcentre that we continue to monitor the situation and will not tolerate those who try to be disruptive.
Your readers may be interested to know that alternative services are available for customers who are unable to visit our office.
For example, dial 0845 6060234 to phone Jobseekers Direct which provides information on local area or wider regions; or www.jobcentreplus. gov.uk
