TO GET away from the rain one Saturday recently we went to see johnny-jump-up at the Merchant.
We thought they were very talented, especially the lady who played all the instruments, and the younger male singer had a great voice for Irish music.

We also went to see Fusion at the Albert and thoroughly enjoyed them. They did three long sessions and a great mix of songs to please everyone. It was nice to see a full pub for a change.

I have got to say that the only bad music we saw that weekend was the karaoke guy on the Regal Lady boat trip. He sang old war-time songs which was, I suppose, to keep in with the Dunkirk theme. We are not youngsters, but still found it depressing and quite frankly it spoilt the trip for us.

Something more uplifting like “We’re all going on a summer holiday” and maybe a bit of humour would have been much better.

Anyway, we had a great weekend
