A case of double standards?

Re the controversial clock displayed by the deputy chief constable of North Yorkshire (Police chief under fire over his Nazi clock, Evening News, April 29).
What, exactly, is the problem with this clock, given that this officer has had it on display for some time, apparently with no adverse comments.
Indeed, from what he has said, people have shown an interest in it and its history, so why should he have to remove it?
He, no doubt, is proud of the fact that his father, a Second World War veteran, had been given it after the sinking of the German U-boat from which it was recovered.
It would be interesting to know what reaction there would have been from the PC brigade had the clock featured a symbol or portrait of mass murderers such as Stalin, Mao Tse Tung or Pol Pot, who, collectively, were responsible for the deaths of tens of millions more people than the Nazis were.
The response would, I imagine, have been zilch.
Double standards or what.
