THE mother of a local footballer who suffered a double leg break has thanked ambulance and hospital staff.
Saturday League side Seamer FC's 17-year-old midfielder Tom Young broke his left tibia and fibia in an accidental clash during their 2-1 defeat at home to Filey Town in the first round of the Harbour Cup.

And his mum Heidi has praised the treatment her son received.

She said: "I have to say a special thank- you to both the ambulance staff and the doctors and surgeons at Scarborough Hospital who looked after Tom.

"It was a very nasty incident and we were fortunate that the assistant manager of Seamer, Nigel Moore, was also brilliant with him."

Lady Lumley's Sixth Form College pupil Young has had a metal plate fitted and is now back home on the road to recovery.

Heidi added: "He is absolutely gutted because he loves his football and enjoys playing for Seamer.

"He was the captain of the junior teams for four seasons and was really pleased to be featuring for the senior side at the start of this season.

"I am sure he will be back playing when he makes a full recovery."
