TWO sides from Phoenix under-12s shone in the prestigious South Leeds Tournament against top teams from the Leeds area.
The A team caught the eye in their league group, but narrowly missed out on qualifing for the semi-finals with goal difference holding them back.

The B team finished second in their league only losing once and winning all the others due to some excellent play up front by Tyler Richardson and Shane Holt, who bagged all the goals between them.

In the semi finals they took on an in-form Fryston juniors, with the score finished at 1-1 after normal time, due to a last minute goal by Phoenix.

The game then went to extra-time, where Jack Holden, who played brilliantly at the back, scored with a long range lob from his own half.

Holt added two more to send Phoenix through.

Phoenix then played Wortley Juniors in the final and took an early lead through Ben Watson.

Wortley did equalise with a fantasic shot from the kick off.

Both teams then battled hard with Matty Rowley fighting for every ball to make sure the game stayed level at full-time.

The sides then couldn't be separated until the 11th penalty of the spot-kicks, with Wortley edging the win.
