A MAN has been arrested for causing more than £5,000 of damage to Scarborough's pay and display parking machines.
The man, 31, originally from the Sunderland area, will appear in court on May 12.

He is also charged with two thefts from a motor vehicle, on separate occasions – one relating to theft of a Scarborough Sixth Form College student's 18th birthday presents.

She had been celebrating with friends and family at a Masquerade Ball at the Spa.

The family returned to the car to find all her unwrapped gifts stolen, and including irreplaceable family photographs.
