A GARDENER, who works for Scarborough Council, has been banned from driving for 20 months after admitting drink driving.
Jason Hawksfield, 20, admitted his guilt despite police having no evidence that he had been driving, magistrates heard.
Steven Ovenden, prosecuting at Scarborough Magis-trates' Court, said officers had attended an incident at Rosie O'Grady's hotel
in Station Square, Whitby.
It was suggested by door staff that Hawksfield had driven home following an altercation with another man.
Mr Ovenden said: "They attended his address. He wasn't seen in his vehicle, he was seen walking some short distance away and was approach-ed."
Hawksfield, of Abbotts Walk, Whitby, admitted he had been driving and was breathalysed. He was found to be around twice the legal limit.
"He didn't seek to mislead the police as others would have done," said Mr Ovenden. "Even though there was nothing to identify him as the driver."
Hawksfield, who represented himself in court, said: "It was a stupid thing to do". He added he did not know if losing his licence would cost him his job as a gardener for Scarborough Council's parks and countryside services.
He was also fined £150 and must pay a victim surcharge of £15, along with £50 costs.
