MORE than 300 students from Graham School took part in a two-week programme of activities designed to give them an insight into working life.

The youngsters completed a one-week work experience placement and took part in a number of visits and in-school activities.

Activities at school included business, enterprise and personal development workshops, during which students had the opportunity to develop team building, planning, finance and marketing skills.

Students also visited the University of Hull Scarborough campus, York St John University and the University of York, where they toured the facilities on offer and took part in taster sessions.

Thirty students took part in a five-day course organised by the Army. The students took part in visits to military sites in Harrogate and York, and were involved in various work-related and team building activities.

Mrs Sharon Markham, partnership development manager, said “Key to the success of the work experience programme is the involvement of local employers, colleges, universities and North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership.

“Over the years we have developed links with a number of local employers and organisations. “We really appreciate the help and support they give us with work placements and in-school activities.”
