Theatre could be popular again

I READ Mick Jefferson's Scarborough Diary (Evening News, June 17) and I was pleased that he had commented on the open air theatre.

I agree with him about people not wanting to sit out in our 2009 weather.

A few people have said that people would not want to sit out at night nowadays. This is rubbish. What about all the people who go to Castle Howard for the concerts and the people who love going to the Peasholm Park concerts each summer?

The whole magic of the old open air theatre, and the concerts nowadays, was to take a picnic and brave the elements, that was part of the fun.

I do hope the theatre can be renovated as it would be a great asset to Scarborough, as it was in days gone by.
