The myth of global warming

RE global warming.

Carbon dioxide is vital for plant growth. A sugar beat factory at Grantham delivers all its emissions to the largest greenhouse in the UK to increase photosynthesis in the growing of tomatoes. So carbon dioxide can be good then.

As for bringing politics into the equation there is only one person who did that, and that was Tony Blair when the Labour Party took the green agenda from environmental groups. Open-cast coal mine applications are refused planning permission by the local authorities. Coal companies are going to appeal and win. And why? Because the Labour Government are, allegedly, leaning on the planning inspectors to grant permission. We are now at a point where councils are giving planning permission because it costs more not to.

So this begs the question over how many faces does the Labour Party have when it comes to the environment. Liberal Democrats are the only party who have one member one vote and we do not dictate to members over matters of conscience.

Climate models from 10 leading countries including France, Germany, Britain and the USA compared results of their models. They displayed a global temperatures range of between one to 10 degrees of warming in the future. A leading scientist on the IPPC panel was candid about it: "Climate models do not do clouds well, they are the biggest problem we have in using climate models to make predictions about global warming."

Even James Lovelock has pointed out: "Observations and evidence are out of fashion". Most evidence now is from the virtual world of computer models. Letter writers should have taken note of what I said about sustainability, and, I agree, mankind should not make a bonfire out of our fossil fuels.

Nuclear and renewable energy need time to be developed and the only tool mankind has is sustainability.
