Tesco group says it has 3,000 letters

A GROUP which is still hoping to prevent the construction of a Tesco superstore in Scarborough has claimed they already have 3,000 letters objecting to the closure of a vital road.

The Scarborough Town Against Tesco Store Group say they will present the letters to the Secretary of State, once the consultation period for the proposed closure of Trafalgar Street West is underway.

Open days to help write their letters of objection will be held on February 24 and February 25 at St Columba Church Hall, at the junction of Columbus Ravine and Dean Road, from 10.30am and 3pm.

The supermarket development, in Dean Road, was granted planning permission in December.
