A SCARBOROUGH fundraiser is pledging her support to National Heart Month by getting involved wit the Red for Heart campaign.

Amelia Scholey has raised more than £10,000 locally for the British Heart Foundation and Live Life Then Give Life through Amelia’s Campaign.

She is now signing up to support local events in aid of the Red for Heart campaign.

The first event is A Big Roast, held at Westborough Church on Sunday February 5, from 12.30pm, where chefs from the Stephen Joseph Restaurant will cook a three course meal for guests.

Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children under 10 and are available from Westborough Church Coffee Lounge Bar. All funds raised will be split between the British Heart Foundation and Live Life Then Give Life.

Miss Scholey said: “I was diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy in 2001 and had a heart transplant in 2002, aged 15. This is why the British Heart Foundation’s Red for Heart campaign is close to my heart and why we are holding our Sunday Roast for the nation’s heart charity in National Heart Month.”

Sharon Oakley, BHF fundraising volunteer manager in North Yorkshire, said: “National Heart Month is an important time for people across North Yorkshire to think about their own hearts and of those around them. Our Red for Heart campaign is our way of raising money to continue saving lives. Thanks to Amelia’s Campaign for going Red for Heart to help us to do this.”
