STUDENTS from a Scarborough school brought in the Chinese New Year in style after enjoying a raft of the country’s culinary delights.
The pupils from Scalby School spiced up their traditional lunchtime menu with a choice of three traditional Chinese meals to mark the Year of the Dragon.
After decorating their dining hall with Chinese flags and a huge dragon, they enjoyed treats including sweet and sour pork or chicken in black bean sauce with rice.
They could also tuck into a tasty vegetable stir-fry with noodles, with each student also receiving a fortune cookie.
Headteacher David Read said the youngsters had enjoyed learning about the traditions of China and loved sampling the food.
He added: “The food was delicious and once again I’m grateful to Christine Marshall and her team for the trouble they went to, which gave us all a bit of fun during the day.”
