A SCARBOROUGH woman is taking on a marathon challenge in aid of local charity Ellie’s Fund.

Sarah Dowey has been training hard on the “run-up” to this year’s London Marathon, which will take place on Sunday April 22.

Mrs Dowey, a teacher at Graham School, has already been given a fantastic sponsorship boost by A to Z Community Carers, of Falsgrave Road.

The company has kicked off the sponsorship fund with £500, with an extra donation of £100 in the pipeline if Mrs Dowey completes the marathon in her target time of under four hours.

Directors Joe Jellie and Jeremy Wilkinson have donated the money and managing director Vickie Clark said: “We are delighted to support such a worthy local charity and wish Sarah every luck in the marathon.”

Mrs Dowey is planning to run on the day wearing butterfly wings, as the Ellie’s Fund logo is a butterfly. The charity helps support children undergoing treatment for brain tumours and also helps fund research. Go to www.charitygiving.co.uk/sarahdowey
