CAYTON Parish Council has handed out a number of grants to community groups in the area.

Cayton Corinthians Junior Football Club received £250. A soccability team started after discussions with the North Riding FA about giving children with an impairment a chance to take part in out of school activities.

The club invited children to come to training sessions and a team was developed to represent Cayton Corinthian Juniors in the North Riding Ability Counts League.

The players are aged between 12 and 16 years of age and currently this season they have won all their matches.

So far the team has had two representatives at the North Yorkshire Centre of Excellence. The grant will assist with travel and venue hire costs.

Cayton Cricket Club also received £250 towards the purchase of a white lining machine which will be used by both football and cricket teams at the Cayton Playing Fields ground.

Cayton Art Club have also been awarded £250 towards new exhibition stands, they will be presented with their funds at a later date.

To be considered for a grant of up to £250, local clubs must complete an application form, which can be obtained from the Parish Council office. Telephone (01723) 586869 or go to www.cayton.org.uk
