A SCARBOROUGH student has given racism the red card thanks to a powerful poster campaign.

Elly Coles, a Year Eight pupil at Scalby School, kicked prejudice into touch with a sports-themed poster hailing the message ‘we are all equals’.

The poster came about through the school’s support for national campaigns Kick It Out and Show Racism The Red Card.

Students were asked to create a poster raising awareness of discrimination in sport and the wider society to encourage tolerance and develop understanding of respect.

The pupils’ creations were judged by their peers with Elly’s poster coming out on top and it has since been professionally produced by Scarborough company Adverset.

Teacher Emma Choat added: “I am very grateful to Adverset for their support, and proud of the message Elly conveys through her poster.”
