Dismay over closure of Shopmobility
DEEP sadness felt as I read that Scarborough Shopmobility is to close due to lack of funding.
Speaking as a former employee, I know first-hand just how important this service is to residents and visitors.
How can it be that one of the finest public services we have (had), which made this town accessible to all through the hire of powered scooters and wheelchairs, is left to close?
This charitable organisation has pulled through some tough times over the years to keep services operating and all credit must go to the fantastic team of staff and volunteers who have been dedicated to providing a friendly service which is a cut above the rest.
The closure of Scarborough Shopmobility is a massive blow to this town and the effect will be felt by many.

I WAS dismayed to receive a phone call today informing me of the imminent closure of Scarborough's branch of Shopmobility.
I am a pensioner and look forward to my holdays in Scarborough twice a year. I cannot manage without this wonderful service, so it looks like my lovely visits to Scarborough have come to an end. I feel devastated.
