DIAMONDS are set to be the theme of the night as the Mayor’s Ball gets ready to sparkle.
This year’s Mayor’s gala dinner is taking the form of a Diamond Jubilee Ball to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The event, which is being held at Scarborough Spa on March 30, will be hosted by Scarborough Mayor Cllr John Blackburn and his mayoress Jackie Blackburn in association with the Rotary Club of Scarborough.
To help raise as much money as possible for the Mayoress’ Community Fund, which benefits local groups and organisations throughout the borough, members of the Rotary Club will be running a silent auction with money-can’t-buy prizes, including a piece of diamond jewellery made especially for the occasion by Rosh jewellers.
Cllr Blackburn said: “This year’s ball is set to be a glittering and fabulous occasion, my wife Jackie and I are looking forward to hosting it.”
Tickets are £35 each and are available from the council’s civic officer Irene Webster on (01723) 232311 or e-mail irene.webster@scarborough.gov.uk, or alternatively from Rotarian David Chapman at CPH Property Services in St Thomas Street.
