Chocolate fundraiser set to be tree-rific!

CHOCOHOLICS are being invited to a fundraising event in aid of a campaign group set up after the famous Irton beech tree was felled.

A group of villagers are endeavouring to raise £2,500 for a legal bill run up last year during a battle to keep the tree, which stood in the centre of the village for a century.

The group supports the Irton Tree Foundation, launched when the tree came down to help people having the same problem.

It is organising a chocolate extravaganza at the Memorial Hall, in Seamer, at 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 7.

It will involve tasting sessions of hand-made chocolates and a chocolate-making demonstration.

Tickets cost £5 and can be bought at 11 Main Street and 17 Porritt Lane in Irton, or booked by ringing (01723) 862473.

Around £140 was raised in December when the group ran a Harry Potter themed event at the same hall.

The next fundraiser will be a sponsored walk along Irton’s public footpaths on Easter Sunday and Monday.
