All set for a flipping good Pancake Day

editorial image

SCARBOROUGH is set for some flipping great action on Shrove Tuesday next week in the annual Pancake Day celebrations.

The town’s Strictly Pancake race is back once again to test competitors on their speed, skill - and ability to toss a pancake!

The event will take place in Aberdeen Walk and scores of teams - bedecked in various fancy dress - are expected to take to the starting line.

Teams will be judged on their fancy dress, pancake flipping technique and the amount of pancake they have left in their frying pan at the end of the relay.

There will also be the annual skipping event in the South Bay, with the ringing of the pancake bell on the corner of Westborough and North Street taking place at noon.

To enter the pancake race, contact Mary Turnbull or Nick Taylor on (01723) 232440 or email mary.turnbull@scarborough.gov.uk
