Situated at the top of Bland's Cliff is a new café called Crumbs.
It has recently been renovated and certainly looks a lot brighter inside, with a wooden floor, black sofas with black coffee tables and wooden tables and chairs, with cream walls and one wall covered in black and cream flowered wall-paper.

A wood
en counter incorporating a glass display cabinet with an array of delicious looking homemade cakes is situated on the back wall. Fresh flowers were on each table and there was lovely white matching crockery. There wasn't a huge amount of room around the tables but we did manage to squeeze the pram in.

There was quite a varied menu and also specials on the boards – this consisted of farmhouse breakfast £3.50-£4.50, breakfast sandwiches eat-in £2.25 or takeaway £1.95, veggie breakfasts £1.95, light bites 75p-£2.95, sandwiches with various fillings eat-in £3.45 or takeaway £2.95, jacket potatoes with various fillings £3.50 with extra fillings 75p, large plated salads with a choice of fish, meats or homemade quiche £4.45, small children's menu £2.95 and a selection of hot and cold drinks £1.00-£1.95. I fancied the quiche but was told it was not yet ready so opted for a toasted sandwich instead, Helen had a farmhouse breakfast which was lovely and tasty and well presented. To drink we had a latte and a tea – again nice, and the tea came with plenty of hot water. We couldn't pass on the cakes so we had a hot chocolate fudge cake and a chocolate crispy cake both were absolutely delicious, but put a few pounds on – oh never mind, eh?

There seemed to be one lady taking orders and serving, she seemed very friendly and was happy to oblige with a jug of water to heat up Kieren's bottle.

Overall a nice cheerful café, clean bright and friendly staff but when asked about toilets we were told there were none on the premises and we would have to use the public toilets over the road.

Overall opinion: ***

Value for money: ***1/2
