Smugglers Steak Bar is situated on Eastborough with large glass windows showing the front of the café, with a few wooden tables and chairs and more seating at the rear of the café.
There is a wooden counter between the two seating areas where all the drinks are served.

The tables are quite close together so not much room for the pram, so we had to put it in a corner out of the way. Fortunately Kieren was asleep so wasn't bothered.

Down a few steps to the other seating area is the toilets which were clean but basic.

The nice waitress came to take our order looking very smart and cheerful.

We chose lasagne, quiche, burger and a smaller portion of lasagne was offered to Catherine, all came served with side salad and chips on lovely matching blue crockery.

We all had a pot of tea with plenty of hot water and this was served with lovely denim effect mugs.

The unusual condiments were in the shape of light bulbs. The meals were all beautifully presented and the burger served with various accompaniments.

They were all delicious tasting but we thought slightly overpriced, but only to be expected as most customers are holiday makers.

The lunchtime menu is available till 6pm; this consisted of various main meals served with chips, vegetables and or salad £3.50 - £5.75, jacket potatoes £2.25 - £3.25, salads £2.25 - £4.95. On the evening menu the starters were £2.25 - £3.25, main meals £4.95 - £11.75, side orders 75p - £2.00 and desserts £2.95. Hot cold and alcoholic drinks are available along with a children's menu.

Overall a pleasant experience, friendly and welcoming staff and nice food but a little on the expensive side.

Overall opinion ***

Value for money ***
