We remember going here years ago and recall what a dingy little cafe it was, but we were pleasantly surprised on this visit.
Lovely white walls make the place look bigger than it really is, and clean and fresh.

Red and white checked tablecloths and other red items give it a nice
finishing touch.

The menu is on a board near the counter in the corner where you place your orders. An extensive menu includes various sized breakfasts served all day £1.70-£4.25, soup and roll £1.10, various main meals served with either potatoes or chips and two vegetables £3.10, chocolate fudge cake served alone or with ice cream or custard £1.10-£1.60. Other items are burgers, snacks breakfast sandwiches and other sandwiches with various fillings all to eat in or take away. It was mid-morning so we decided on two medium breakfasts and a mug of tea and coffee.

After a short wait the breakfasts arrived – they came nicely presented, not too greasy, and included bacon, sausage, two eggs, mushrooms, a choice of beans, tomatoes or both and a slice of toast, also bread and butter if required. They were absolutely delicious. The tea was a bit strong for our liking but as the cafe is often frequented by workmen it is only to be expected.

There seemed to be only two ladies working, but they were both quick and efficient attending to everyone's needs.

There is a small private forecourt which is accessible for wheelchairs and prams, but with a few steps down into the cafe, these would be best left outside.

Overall not a luxurious cafe, quite basic, but a cheap place for a lovely meal.

Overall opinion ****

Value for money *****
