THIS WEEK: Betton Farm Tea Room
Published Date:
22 April 2008
On a bright but cold Sunday morning on our way to the children's play area near Snainton, we decided to visit Betton Farm Tea Room for
breakfast.
We also remembered the farm shop which sells their own farm produce and lovely homemade cakes and pastries.
On arrival we were the only ones there. Although there were no breakfasts on the menu the friendly waitress was only too happy to cook two full breakfasts and beans on toast for Catherine. The breakfast included bacon, egg, sausage, beans, tomatoes and plenty of toast and butter. Catherine had a plateful too, nicely presented with little triangle toast round the plate. To drink we had a pot of tea and a coffee – a second cup is offered at half price. All were delicious and a good hearty breakfast was just what we needed before journeying on to the park.
The tea room is a very long room in one of the old farm buildings, nicely set out with plenty of tables and chairs with nice lace tablecloths. As you walk in, on the wall to the right there is a display of old fashioned pottery, while on the walls there are pictures and old farming implements. At the far end of the room is the counter where food is ordered. Along one long side of the room there were large windows offering beautiful views over the fields. The toilet is back outside the tea room in an adjoining building, a little cold especially in
winter but basic, clean and adequate facilities.
A varied menu offers light snacks and meals, Sunday lunches and their wonderful selection of homemade cakes and
pastries and, of course, on request lovely hearty breakfasts.
We decided to have a quick look round outside where there is a birds of prey centre with a £2.00 admission charge,
children's play area and animal farm also with an admission charge, but Catherine was content with looking at a few rabbits. All fed and watered, we continued on our journey.
