Ask Restaurant is situated overlooking the harbour – a nice modern building with a large outdoor seating area and also another outside seating area on a balcony above, large windows giving a good view of the harbour and the sea beyond.
The outdoor area is still enjoyable on cooler nights with the addition of patio heaters.

Inside there was a lovely clean cream tiled floor, dark wood and cream chairs and lighter wooden tables giving a modern look. In the entrance there was a small seating area for anyone waiting to be seated, nearby is the large open kitchen where chefs were busy cooking food. The bar is situated to the side in the centre of the restaurant where various soft and alcoholic drinks are available.

On entering we were greeted by a lovely waitress who looked very smart in her white Ask shirt, black trousers and black apron. She was very welcoming and showed us directly to our table, although it was quite busy and most of the tables were taken. She gave us the menus and left us to decide what we wanted while she went to get us our drinks.

The menu had a varied choice of antipasti £1.95- £5.95, salads £2.95-£11.95, pasta £5.85-£8.95, pizzas £5.95- £8.55, pasta al forno £7.95, calzone £8.45 and £8.75, and desserts £2.25-£4.95. It took a while to make our choice due to the lovely selection on offer, but we eventually decided on a spaghetti alla bolognese, a formaggio di capra which consisted of ciabatta bread topped with grilled goat's cheese and balsamic caramelised onions served on a mixed leaf salad, drizzled with a balsamic and olive oil dressing, and a garlic pizza bread to share.

The food arrived looking very appetising and we couldn't wait to get started. From the first to the last mouthful it was absolutely delicious and definitely worth the small wait we had. Due to it being lunchtime it was very busy and other dishes leaving the kitchen also looked as nice, even the desserts, which we couldn't manage due to being too full.

The toilets were upstairs in individual little rooms consisting of toilet, wash basin and hand drying facilities; these were in white and blue, modern-looking following the theme of the rest of the restaurant and again very clean.

Overall very enjoyable meals, lovely views, excellent staff, and spotlessly clean.

Overall opinion ****

Value for money ****
