THE managing director of Yorkshire Regional Newspapers retires tomorrow after a long and busy career.
Tim Berry, 60, joined the Scarborough-based company in January 2000. YRN includes the Evening News, Whitby Gazette, Driffield Times, Driffield Post, Bridlington Free Press, Filey and Hunmanby Mercury, and the Malton and Pickering Mercury, plus a number of websites.

He was previously based for 22 years at Halifax, where he rose from newspaper sales manager to general manager.

Mr Berry, of Ebberston, is married with two sons. He said today: "I'm looking forward to spending a lot more time gardening. "I have enjoyed my time here tremendously.

"It is a magnificent part of the country and I enjoyed meeting and developing relationships with many customers over the years.

"I've met a lot of people along the way who have become good friends. It is inevitable that you build up good relationships when you deal with people so often."
